Have you discovered Pinterest yet? I’m a tiny bit addicted and use it mostly to catalogue all the amazing places around the world that I hope to visit one day. Very high on my travel wish list is Bora Bora – I ‘pinned’ a photo of Bora Bora on my Pinterest travel board and within an hour, it had been ‘repinned’ fifty times – clearly others have Bora Bora on their wish list as well! With that in mind, we’ve found a luxury hotel that welcomes kids.
Bora Bora Island is the epitome of a tropical paradise – surrounded by crystal blue water, powdery white sands and covered in lush, tropical palms, the view of the island from above is awe-inspiring. Noted as the ‘most magical’ of the French Polynesian islands, Bora Bora’s stunning lagoon, offshore islets and surrounding coral reef has inspired myths and mysteries.

Bora Bora was long considered a honeymoon destination with accommodation dominated by romantic beach huts for two. St. Regis Resort changes that. Situated on a forty-four acre private island with incredible views of the lagoon and the majestic Mount Otemanu, St. Regis Resort boasts one, two and three bedroom villas, swimming pools and a fantastic kids club.

The fun for kids begins on arrival when they are presented with their own ‘ice cream passport’, entitling them to unlimited ice creams, smoothies and milkshakes. And then the activities start – the Kids Creativity Club runs a host of special activities for children aged five to twelve years including sandcastle building, sailing, traditional Polynesian arts and crafts, coconut collecting and nature walks. The private, secluded beach is the perfect spot for kids to try their hand at various water sports.

If they can tear themselves away from the organised fun, the resort’s facilities will impress. I’m a little obsessed by pools and beaches and invariably, when checking out a hotel, the pool facilities are what I look at first. The St. Regis Resort does not disappoint. Not many resorts can boast a private lagoon and a private beach however that’s just the start at the St. Regis. Enjoy world-class snorkelling amongst native fish and stingrays in the Resort’s Lagoonarium or relax at the picturesque private beach (below).

After beach time, head to the central swimming pool, set in a lush tropical garden and complete with swim-up bar or, for some grown-ups-only time, the Oasis Pool, with secluded, private cabanas. In addition, all of the resort’s two-bedroom suites have private pools, whether that be an infinity pool (at the beachside villas) or a pool suspended over the lagoon (in the Overwater Villas)! Given the opportunity, I think my kids could spend many hours jumping from the pool into the sea and back again.

As you would expect with five-star service, St. Regis Resort accommodates little guests in style with baby bathrobes, a children’s menu, a selection of children-friendly movies and in-room toys, cots, highchairs and so forth. Your stay at the St. Regis also includes a private butler service.
The dry season in Bora Bora is May through to October, so you’ve got plenty of time to plan (and save for) your trip! Bookings at the St. Regis Resort can be made directly online – a two bedroom villa begins at approximately $3800 per night (Hmmm… I guess it’s staying on my wishlist a little longer!).
Flights to Bora Bora can be booked online directly through Flight Centre.

Was hoping this would be one of the monthly prizes…I’m sure I could come up with a damn good comment about why my wee family would deserve this!
My wife and I stayed at the St Regis pre baby, and it is the most amazing place you will ever see. The water really is that colour and it is so warm.
