Science has never looked so beautiful.

A is for Atom, B is for Binary Code, C is for Cell Membrane. Ok, it may not be for every child, but if you have a young mad scientist in your midst, we have a gold mine of geeky goodies to show you.

Nerdy Baby is a one stop shop for science-related art, gifts and even nursery decor for small science lovers. From the obviously bright mind of children’s artist, and mother, Tiffany Ard, Nerdy Baby puts a science spin on traditional baby and child-related educational tools. The image at the top of the post is just stunning and it’s educational! It depicts inverse-square law. I’m not even going to pretend to know what that is, but if you want some artwork for your child’s room that serves a purpose – this is it. All of the prints are signed and dated, and cost US$15.

The ABC Flashcards are both mind-boggling and beautiful, with fabulous illustrations. The 123 Flashcards are equally challenging, as you’ll find yourself teaching your child to count electrons and angles. If you’re already from a science background however, these will be a piece of cake. And if your child is suitably interested in the discipline of science, well they just may teach you a thing or two.

The Colouring Book isn’t your run-of-the-mill Disney character creation. It will prompt your child to try and identify different types of cellular life. Or colour in famous scientists. Described as equal parts nerdy and ridiculous, it’s aimed at challenging bright minds.

And while I’m far from a science devotee, I can see the appeal of the Nerdy Baby onesies for those in the field. Check out the very clever, tongue-in-cheek artwork on the dinosaur onesie – too cute. The onesies are US$25 from Uncommon Goods, and you can pick up a pack of ABC Flashcards for US$22 from Nerdy Baby, which ships internationally.

  1. Ah, Nerdy Baby. So much of their stuff in our house. We started out with the Prime Number Counting Chart and then we just couldn’t seem to stop. My kids include “pi” when they count to 10 because of those flash cards.
