I’m not a fan myself, but I’ll grant battery-operated toys have their place in the market. I much prefer the old school wooden toys we grew up with (is it just me, or am I sounding old before my time?) such as these City Mini Blocks, US$38 from Fidoodle Inc. via Etsy. The blocks fit into a three inch recycled cube printed with a city skyline which can be built up, and when flipped over, can be put together to make a puzzle.

I also love the Upside Down Tree Mobile, US$180. The wire base gives the mobile bounce and features flowers, leaves and snowflakes which can be detached to change with the seasons.

All Fidoodle products are made from non-toxic, sustainable products such as organic cotton and sheeps wool. And according to Fidoodle artist Jen Bulthuis, all their products are based on children’s fairytales, myths and stories. Items can be shipped to Australia.
