There aren’t many authors who are willing to tackle the big issues and answer the tough questions, particularly in a lift-the-flap book format! Yet authors Geraldine Taylor and Amy Schimler come up with answers to all the curly ones that a three-year-old might ask: “Why is the sky blue?”, “Do fish drink?”, “Where do butterflies go when it rains?”, “Do sharks have friends?”, to name a few.
Why is the Sky Blue? examines all sorts of things that children notice in the world around them and Do Dogs Dream? looks specifically at the animal kingdom. Both books include flaps to lift and tabs to pull, revealing the answers to the questions. The level of detail is pitched perfectly at three- to five-year-olds, which is fantastic since informative non-fiction for this age group is not easy to come by.
As for the answers to these perplexing questions, you’ll just have to read the book with your three-year-old and find out!
Why is the Sky Blue? and Do Dogs Dream? are available from Fishpond and are $24.99 each.
