Is it an e-book? Is it a game? No. The Story of Flewn is something entirely new.

The Story of Flewn combines interactive game elements with cinematic storytelling – instead of simply ‘reading’ the book or watching the story unfold in film version, the characters in the story need your help. In fact, Frog and Rabbit must be kept well fed and flying for the story to progress. It’s an incredibly creative idea and the originality and charm doesn’t stop with the clever format.

The Story of Flewn follows an old whale crossing a continent on stilts made of driftwood. Whale is in search of a new ocean for himself and the sea creatures he carries on his back. As he grows a beard and a weary heart he meets a frog on a uni-cycopter and a rabbit with wings. Together the three characters must use their creativity and courage to find a new ocean and confront the reason their world is falling apart around them.

Creator, Gabriel Smetzer, is clearly a master of animation and a superb illustrator. Watch the video clip below – it is difficult not to fall in love with eager Frog and the plump and oh-so-cute Rabbit, complete with flying goggles. And you heart will break for Whale.

The Story of Flewn is a Kickstarter project – I’m so pleased that it has already received enough backers to be developed although it’s not too late to show your support. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
