Babies love books but often they choose to ‘read’ them with their hands and mouths. Books don’t cope so well with that.
Where was the Indestructibles range when my boys were eating their way through the library? Indestructibles are waterproof and tear-resistant baby books printed on a special material which has the properties of being soft, light and paper-like, yet is ‘indestructible’. You can even wash these books if your baby combines meal time with a spot of reading!

The books are the brainchild of Amy Pixton, a mother of triplets, whose babies were gnawing through their fair share of books.
There’s a good range of titles available including nursery rhymes, stories with animals and some about children and babies. The illustrations are a mix of styles but all are brightly coloured and appealing. I’m debating what’s the best thing about these books – the fact that they can be thrown in the washing machine or that they are so light and slim that you could carry the whole collection in the nappy bag without a problem!
Naturally, Indestructibles are BPA, phthalate, PVC, and lead-free. They’re available at Book Depository, which delivers free to Australia.

I got given one of these when my son was born and now I give one to every woman I know who is having a baby. They really are indestructible and it’s a different texture to all the soft toys so babies LOVE them.
I came across these a couple of years ago at Dymocks. Miss C loved hers and it was a great toy for the nappy bag. Highly recommend
