Australia is known to produce some of the very best in children’s books and the shortlist for the 2015 Environment Award for Children’s Literature – the only environment-themed award for children’s literature in Australia – is no exception. Hosted by The Wilderness Society, the award recognises books that promote a love of nature in children.

“The books and culture that the children of today absorb will shape the world of tomorrow,” says Lyndon Schneiders, the National Director of the Wilderness Society.

There are three award categories: picture fiction, non-fiction and fiction, and the winners will be selected by authors Barry Jonsberg and Christina Booth, with Morris Gleitzman presenting the award. Previous award winners include prestigious Australian authors such as Tim Winton, Colin Thiele, Paul Jennings, Jeannie Baker and Graeme Base.
