Kmart are kicking big goals when it comes to kids’ play equipment and cubby houses. These adorable mini-kitchens have proven especially popular with creative, customising mums and dads.

Kids in the Kmart kitchen

Yesterday we told you about the awesome cubby houses parents were making over for their children, today we thought we’d flag these equally excellent kids’ kitchens.

Kmart have sold a couple of excellent wooden kitchen playsets, both of which lend themselves to a bit of crafty meddling in the quest for a cuter kitchen. And even if you don’t/can’t manage to snap up a Kmart kitchen, this post is jam-packed with cute hack ideas that might inspire OTHER great DIY projects for your kids or self.

Exhibit One: The Deluxe Wooden Kitchen Playset which retails for $129. This set is sold out online, but it’s possible that you can still snap one up in store. Phone your local Kmart for the skinny on that.

Exhibit Two: The Large Wooden Kitchen by Kmart. It’s apparently not as DELUXE as the model above, but it is $89 and still offers an excellent blank canvas for the DIY-crazy parent. It’s also available online – and possibly at your local store too. Again, phone ahead to avoid disappointment at this busy time of year.

How to hack a Kmart kid’s kitchen

And here’s how some clever mums and dads are making these cute toys even cuter for their kiddos:

1. Hudson and Harlow’s Alicia stylishly leads the charge (again!) with gold accents and some pastel accessorising.

2. More pops, this time rose gold, which is always a good thing.

3. Moody and monochrome for the design led tot/micro bachelor pad.

4. Mint and grey, with a geometric splashback. Gleaming gold accents seal the deal.

5. Some on-trend marble for this little foodie, paired with neutral grey and charcoal.

6. Sleek and stylish, for the mini minimalist and tiles every mini Masterchef will appreciate.

7. Delightfully embellished with fancy mother-of-pearl look tiles

8. Some deliciously minty and fruity touches for the win

9. Think pink. All the pink! Pink for days, even!

10. Pare it back, and put a triangle on it
