Actor Jessica Marais and her ex-partner James Stewart waved their five-year-old daughter off at the school gate the other day and it was a teary moment for this famous mum and dad!
“First day of school!”
“First day of school! So much love, so many tears,” Home and Away star James posted to Instagram alongside a cute photo of a grinning Scout, heading off on her big day with her mum and dad in tow.
Last year, James shared an equally adorable photo of Scout embarking on primary school orientation, admitting to a few butterflies – and possibly further sniffles.
“First step into big school … I think Jess and I are more nervous than Scout … hah! Argh!” James wrote back then.
These recent snaps are further confirmation that not only is Scout school-ready, with parents who are committed to doing what’s best for her, she’s setting off in impressively shiny shoes!
Everybody needs good neighbours
James and The Wrong Girl star, Jess seem to be doing a great job of the whole co-parenting caper. He spoke to Sunday Life last year, about the ebb and flow of sharing their five-year-old between two households.
At the time James was temporarily caring for Scout full-time while Jess was snowed under with work. He revealed he and Jess live really close to each another, and they favour a flexible co-parenting approach that allows for their creative careers.
“I am the full-time carer for Scout as Jess is busy working and travelling a lot. Jess’s apartment is 100 metres from mine in Sydney and when Jess is back, Scout is shared 50/50,” he explained.
Ugg boots and Scout
Jess and James met on the set of popular TV series Packed to the Rafters, and were together for four years, appearing thick as thieves until they broke off their engagement in May 2015.
“I am interested in dating, but my Saturday nights are often spent in Ugg boots on the couch with Scout,” James joked recently.
A recent photo uploaded to his Instagram suggests there might be more room on the couch than he’d initially realised!
