Think of these two amazing finds as the helping hand you’ve always wanted when travelling by plane with children.

If you’ve ever had to juggle children, strollers and luggage at an airport, you’ll know what an amazing invention the Aussie Kidz Travel Mate is. This nifty gadget transforms a car seat into a stroller – two birds, one stone. If your child is rather attached to their car seat, there’s no need to leave it at home and have to put your faith in a hire seat. Simply take it along with you, leave the stroller at home, and you’re good to go!

Here are the specs: it has a telescopic handle, weighs just 2.25 kilograms, can be pushed or pulled and is compatible with most Australian car seats. This is the first time the Travel Mate has been available in Australia. It costs $99.

Once at your destination, there’s no need for the handy, child-friendly transport options to end. The SideKick Bliss is an ingenious nappy bag and baby carrier in one. It’s capable of holding a child weighing up to fifteen kilograms and can be worn on either hip. It can also be used separately as either a baby carrier or nappy bag. The nappy bag has everything you expect and can be worn over the shoulder or around the waist.

  1. The gogo Kidz Travelmate is $89.99 if purchased through a US – and that’s without shopping around – first link on google! That’s a HUGE mark-up.

  2. @Jennifer, so funny! That’s actually my kid – being totally serious on our photo shoot. If you check out the slideshow on our homepage, you’ll see her laughing. She actually loves traveling in the Travel Mate…thank goodness. @Heather, the restrictions about taking car seats vary from airline to airline (I plan on posting those on my website soon). But the Travel Mate is great even if you just need a travel stroller and a car seat at your destination, which is how we do it. I’ve flown over 160,000 kms with my now 2-year-old (yes, we are mental) and it has made all the difference. I’m also the distributor in Oz, in case that wasn’t obvious. :-)

  3. @jb expat, the increased cost represents the additional costs to import: taxes, fees, freight, testing, etc. This price we offer is actually less than if you could purchase directly from the US because we buy in bulk. (The price you quoted is only valid within the US and doesn’t include any of these additional costs.) We include GST and shipping within Australia in our $199 price point. The Aussie version is also different than the US Travel Mate, so the technology is slightly different to accommodate the different car seats. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have!

  4. Thanks for the explanation Abby. It’s a good product and nice to see that you are so responsive. I’ve grounded our little family after our last trip (little guy didn’t travel so well the last time), but when I’m ready to fly as a family again I’m going to keep this handy product in mind.

  5. I totally understand! Traveling with kids is so tough. I’m in the US right now and dreading the long flight back to Oz in a couple of weeks. Sadly, there is no product that can make that air time easy with active youngsters! But I’m still looking :-)

  6. Great news! Go Go Babyz have just told us that the price of their Travel Mate has dropped again, from $139 to $99! Wow! I’m sure there will be quite a few Babyologists happy to hear this.

(We have adjusted the rrp in our post above to reflect the new, cheaper price.)
