Mountain Buggy – pram updates for 2010

mountainbuggy Mountain Buggy pram updates for 2010

My trusty Mountain Buggy Urban is still a regular fixture in our family life and I’m always excited to see the improvements the company makes rather regularly! It’s hard to imagine the range can get any better but they have done it again with a host of adjustments, making each Mountain Buggy even more perfect than before.

First up are a few new names to familiarise yourself with. The Urban has become the ‘Urban Jungle’ and the Urban Double has become the ‘Duo’. The Terrain has disappeared from the range but the relatively newly released ‘Swift’ (which I covet every day) is there in its two-toned beauty.

Improvements include narrower wheel bases, bigger sunhoods, new detachable bumper bar and new ‘click-and-go’ mechanisms on all carrycot attachments so no baby waking needs to occur to move baby from pram to house.

So now it’s back to the drawing board for me to work out how I can get one of those fab red and black Swifts despite my ‘baby’ being nearly two and a half! Enjoy your new updated Mountain Buggies people.

  1. The MB Swift also now also has a bassinet attachment available. We really loved the size of the Swift, but bought an Urban Jungle last year as we wanted the bassinet option. The Swift is now the perfect pram!

  2. So from comments above, are you ladies happy with your experience of the new China made Swfit model? I recently bought the 2010 one as have heard great things about the Swift, but was then a bit worried after reading speculative reviews re: the move to manufacturing in China. It dampened my excitememt a little!

  3. I have 2009 urban I love it. I was looking at the new 2010 model and you can tell its made cheaper. Even though the bumper comes free its flimsy compared to the old model. Even the pram to both look at and handle does not have the quality the old model did. The new sun visor attached to the pram, flimsy. Very diapointed wouldn’t recommend at all. Shame as the buggy had such a good reputation when made in nz but everything is outsourced to china these days.

  4. I am sooo disappointed to hear that Mountain Buggy has been bought out and manufacturing now occurs in China (what product doesn’t these days) Mountain Buggy was one of the few prams left that was extremely well made very sturdy, hard wearing. All of the parts on the new Buggies are cheap, fitting and fixtures are cheaply manufactured and fitted. I have the origianl Mountaqin Buggy Urban Elite and the Mountain Buggy Double pram. They are both FABULOUS prams and now I intend to hang on to them as they will definitely hold their value particularly as the new Mountain Buggy range is a way inferior product.

  5. The new range Mountain Buggies *Swift, Urban Jungle, Duo etc) are a far cry from the original ones made in NZ. Unfortunately since being taken over by Phil&Teds (and manufacturing moved to China) the quality has been compromised. True, they are cheaper and some of the extras are now part of the overall package but it is reflected in the product which lacks thae standout features of the original design – strength durability, reliability etc… Overall, a disappointing downgrade of what was a premium product.
