Ljus Kron Stroller – oh those wheels!

If you’re expecting a baby after March 2009, then you’re some lucky parents! While it may not be available in Australia
from that time, the
Ljus Kron stroller could easily accompany you home from a holiday or
business trip. I’d say more than a few people would make the effort for this spidery stunner.

When I first saw it, I fully expected it to be a prototype and was
delighted to find out it’s a real stroller due on the market next
year. The wheels are just amazing – yellow-walled and completely
hollow, they give the pram a space-age feel. It’s also pretty
spartan, which is a look usually dominated by sporting prams. The fold
and recline mechanisms are visible and the handlebar is unfussy. Unsuprisingly, this is the product of a designer who worked in medical equipment design for ten years.

I love the form of this stroller, but I’d like to see a little more refinement of the metal frame and different fabric selections. I suspect the final product that hits the market will feature this refinement, as the creator Christian Rancati alludes to the fact
that the model shown has been improved upon since. He is most
passionate and poetic about the rationale behind his design, believing
that beauty and functionality is integral to the positivity of
a child’s experiences from newborn to three years.

Release date is March 1st, 2009 and so far distributors are being procured worldwide, with no definite word on Australia as yet.
Taking a cue from Quinny, the Ljus Kron will be available in three and four wheel versions.
