Hot in the city? Shade your pram with CityShade

We’ve all been there (and it seems this summer in Australia we’ve been there more often than most!). You’re out for a walk with your bub in the pram but it’s SO HOT and you’re worried about them burning. Then there’s the problem of getting them to sleep with that glare in their eyes.

Of course, some prams come with sunshades but often they are enormous, cumbersome pieces of mesh and canvas that create a logistical nightmare if want to take them off or even roll them up a bit. Most likely, you’ve made-do the same way most of us have at some time – with a huge muslin wrap and a few well-placed pegs that you grabbed from the laundry on your way out. You’ll have to agree, it’s not a very stylish option and you’re in deep trouble if you ever step out and leave the pegs at home.

Perhaps what you need is the CityShade. This American product is designed (as so many good ideas are) by a mum who was fed up. It attaches to the hood of your stroller with velcro and has clips which keep it closed or allow you to open one or both sides. It’s a sleek design which won’t add much bulk to your stroller but adds a fair amount of class!

The CityShade comes in a range of colours that will complement most stroller colours already on the market and you can buy either the regular or organic version. The shade is compatible with the Bugaboo Chameleon/Frog, Peg-Perego Skate/Switch, UPPAbaby Vista and the iCandy but if you really love it and don’t own one of those prams, you can contact the manufacturer for a custom quote for a different model and make.

The CityShade is US$69 for the regular or US$79 for the organic version. Shipping to Australia is available for an extra US$12.
