The wind is in my hair, the sun glints off the water and the kids are rosy cheeked and laughing, enjoying the brisk autumn air as we cycle to kindergarten. Actually, that’s the ‘hip mother living by a canal in the heart of Amsterdam’ version of my life which is not entirely accurate.
I’m not really sure how the new Velorbis Mobii would go in the everyday version of my world but it would be more like sweaty hair under compulsory bike helmets, sun beating down and me struggling with the steep hills that surround my house.
That said, it doesn’t make me want a super cool Mobii any less. The Mobii is a multi-functional tricycle designed for the whole family. Children are securely fastened to comfortable cushioned seats with seatbelts in a protective high carrier box. The carrier box is sensibly at the front of the bike so that you can keep a close eye on your passengers and any other cargo on board.
The Mobii is hand-built in Denmark and can be customised to your specifications. However, before you start deciding between the steely grey and the head-turning orange, know that the Mobii retails for US$3895 and has not yet reached our shores.

Lol – great review.
We recently invested in a twin carriage which attaches to my bike and carries our two year old twinnies behind me as I ride. While I recognise the “overseeing” advantages of having the kids in front of you (as in the Velorbis Mobii), when the twins have stopped smiling and are screaming and biting each other, I picture myself peddling away from the noise and stress behind me… and get home a lot faster.
