We’re getting all nostalgic about these amazing vintage-look satchels – and there’s so much to love about them. Not only are these Cartables coming to our shores, they’re not just for kids. Yes, they also come in adult sizes – bliss!

Scallyoop is the first Australian retailer to stock these stunners, from sweet French label Bakker Made With Love. The Cartables are made from beautiful Indonesian fabrics in vibrant colours – punctuated with unique prints.

It’s the satchel style that has us hooked – a throwback to the book bag satchels our grandparents toted to school. The metal front clips keep the two pockets on the front secure, and open to reveal a large interior pocket. Made from thick canvas, they’re sturdy and durable, and the inside is lined with waterproof polyester.

The Cartables come in three sizes: the mini ($64.95) is perfect for children. What little miss or master wouldn’t feel rather self-important carrying one of these to kinder! The satchels also come in moyen (medium – $74.95) and bretelles (large – $84.95). The range of fabrics is achingly broad – just try and choose a favourite from the eight styles!

The mini and medium have a top handle, and adjustable shoulder strap, while the large can be used as a backpack thanks to the adjustable, padded straps.
