They're the hot rods of the baby world and you'd probably cause traffic pile-ups walking along with a
Kidkustoms Roddler stroller. You'll need a healthy wallet and a kid who
doesn't mind being upstaged, no matter how cute he or she is!
Kidkustoms strollers
pack a punch with optional extras like video screens and iPod
docks - all this on top of the professional pearlescent paint job and
custom upholstery. 'Parental units' of the affluent kind can tailor
their
Roddler by choosing flamed fenders and two-toned seats and hoods, right
down to the colour of the stitching.
Kidkustoms is a concept born through a marriage of the automotive
and apparel industries. When these two make babies,
out comes a Kidkustom in all its shiny glory. Just don't be seen in
trackie-dacks in such esteemed company - you'll require an extra
two hours of glamming up before leaving the house to do one of these
justice. They make me want to go all out on the
Rockabilly look!
They start at US$2500 plus international shipping through a reshipper.
Since astonishing the pram world in 2003 with the launch of the Xplory, Stokke has yet again proven its ability to create a modern classic that
remains unexpected and fresh. The Xplory has become a stand-out in high-end prams whilst staying true to Stokke's
mantra, 'Higher is better'.
I still crane my neck to absorb the
giraffe-like stature of the Xplory when one passes me by. It never
fails to capture my
attention, not only for its beauty, but for the fact that I know it
fits the bill function-wise and want to see it in action.
Park baby at the cafe table and chat while you eat, wander the
shops conversing closely with him, interact as you walk through your
day. Baby's learning will be all the more pleasurable when effortlessly
built into ordinary tasks.
It's also a nice thought that baby is above exhaust-pipe level as you
walk, and able to be much closer to you than they'd ever be in a
conventional pram.
Having one of those days when the
mere sight of you prompts whingeing and demands? Face the seat outwards
for some much needed peace while running errands.
I'm certainly not going to pretend it never happens!
A reversible seat has many advantages, including you being able to eat
an entire
sandwich without half of it being appropriated by a toddler, not to
mention of course, being able to see the world independently.
Now there are three new colours available - orange, olive and my favourite, creme. The spotted sleeping bags and
footmuffs are beautiful and there are many other accessories to choose from to suit your needs.
Check out the Xplory's full spectrum of award-winning features and accessories on the
Stokke site.
Available from
bébé in all six colourways
for $1499.95.
My one-year old's first foray out of the pram and onto a tricycle was love at first sight. She was more than happy to take a ride on her little friend’s shiny pink and blue three-wheeled trike for a trip down to the shops – it was a lot more fun than sitting in her boring pram. She couldn’t wipe the smile from her face and like the Queen she adopted a half wave and toothy grin which she shone to passers-by who caught her eye. It was so endearing that we couldn’t resist buying her a tricycle (which she still adores) for her first birthday.
Had I seen the funky Italtrike red three-wheeler though, it would have been my first choice. Made in Via Piovega, Italy this trike is both traditional and sleek. The company has been making toys for children since 1980 and has recently diversified into kids' wooden toys, bringing with them vast experience designing quality trikes unparalleled by any other manufacturer. They recommend the Triciclino for ages one through to three and a half – which should give it a lot of use.
Available from Sparkability in the USA with a re-shipper for $US149.99 (not including shipping).
“A compact fabric travel high chair that folds down to the size of a nappy” – could that sound any better? And the truth is My Little Seat is as good as it claims to be. I have one and I love it!
I carry mine around in my bag when I take my daughter to a restaurant or someone’s house – anywhere I’m not sure there will be a highchair. She’s at the age where if she’s not restrained to a certain degree, she’ll crawl around and mash whatever food she is holding in her hands right into the floor, chair, dog or anything in reachable distance.
This tiny compact device is easy to use, very portable and is indispensible when feeding her on the go. It simply slips over the back of any chair and attaches with two simple harnesses in the front. I also like that it can just get tossed into the washing machine and also comes in a tiny stuff bag. Very practical in all aspects!
The manufacturer recommends the chair for children between six and eight months (when the baby can sit on their own) up to over two.
It comes in funky colour combinations from Itty Bitty Yuppy for $50.55.
Meet the smart-styled
Mamas & Papas Nipi.
It's got all the substance of the most famous
of stroller brands with tons of individual style. Bright and beautiful,
it features 'Oko Ruby' retro print fabric - eye-catching red combined
with accents of fresh aqua.
Stunning looks aside, Nipi of course needs to have ultimate functionality. The hood is larger than you'd expect in a
umbrella stroller, providing your little one with good sun protection. It's lightweight, just 6.4kgs and features
individual wheel suspension, a 5-level reclining seat,
and an adjustable leg rest. The Nipi is suitable from birth to 15kgs.
Even with my heavy 7-month old in it I could push it one-handed,
and the wheels handled terrain admirably. It's perfect for those
quick trips when you need a light, no fuss, compact option. It's
robust too - the aluminium frame is corrosion-resistant, making it
ideal for those seaside jaunts.
This gorgeous pram has a mate that will appeal to many - especially those of us who love
to indulge in matching accessories. The Deluxe Change Bag is as indispensible
as it is beautiful. Made from the same fabric, but with a
matte, laminated surface for wipe-down convenience, it features as many pockets and compartments as you'll ever need. A
superbly soft padded change mat fits inside for those on-the-go
nappy changes, along with an insulated bottle carrier.
