When is a cot not just a cot? When it’s also a toddler bed, play table, daybed and desk – ingenious!

Eagle-eyed Babyologist Cassie spotted this beauty, and we just had to share it with you. It’s called the Bam B. Crib by Gro Furniture. The American company prides itself on the sustainability of its products. And that doesn’t just mean using environmentally conscious bamboo for the construction of its cots, but ensuring they become a functional piece of furniture that stand the test of time.

The Bam B. Crib starts life as a rather handsome cot. A mixture of solid amber bamboo and white solid birch ply give a sleek, contemporary edge, while still maintaining the warmth of a baby’s bed.

With the addition of the toddler conversion panel, the cot becomes a toddler bed once your baby is no longer a baby. It’s a departure from most of the conversion kits I’ve seen, incorporating a helpful step up and safety rails.

The desk/play table conversion kit gives the option to use the cot as a play table – perfect for blocks, cars and trains, or as a full sized desk.

Finally the cot can become a daybed with the aid of another conversion panel – a restful place to read or share a seat with a friend.

If you’re not yet suitably impressed, here’s the kicker: the Bam B. Crib assembles in two minutes. It sounds like an incredibly brash statement, but the proof is in the video below. The cot requires no screws or bolts, thanks to its unique interlocking system. The base price for the Bam B. Crib is US$1490, with each conversion kit costing between US$200 and US$390. A bundle package, which includes the cot, toddler panel, daybed kit and desk/play table kit is US$1890. But it appears you’ll have to enlist the services of a re-shipper to get one of these amazing creations to Australia, or liaise directly with Gro Furniture.
