If you have a kid who is obsessed with superheroes but you don’t want the standard commercial stuff adorning the walls, on the bed and in the toy box then I think you should meet Liam Brazier. He’s turning superheroes into art.
Explosive colour, sharp angles and geometric shapes give Brazier’s amazing ‘portraits’ of well-known superheroes a fluid, action-packed feel. And if the illustrations alone aren’t impressive enough, know that Brazier creates them all in Photoshop. For those in the Photoshop know, he uses the polygonal selection tool and then fills in the colours – that’s enough to impress the pants off Superman.
My pick is Superman – that ‘billowing’ red cape and the skyscrapers are sensational but there’s also something for Batman, Spiderman and Star Wars fans. I’ll hazard a guess and say that these prints won’t just appear on kids walls – I think a few dads will be making room in the study for their own bit of superhero art.
The prints are available from In Print Gallery and are priced from US$20.
