When it comes to decorating my kids’ rooms, I’m all about creating special places they’ll want to play in. And so far, it seems I’m getting it right because my two love their rooms even more than I do. Part of the charm comes from the artworks I’ve found for their walls. The criteria? They have to be colourful, of course, as well as interesting enough to catch a child’s attention rather than just fade into the background.
So these wall sculptures from Sydney-based design studio Kahaus are just the sort of thing I look for. The graphically-stylised steelscapes are stunning in their simplicity, plus they’ve got that little twist of whimsy that I find oh-so appealing. I can’t decide whether I like the red trains or the orange hot air balloons the best. Prefer gender-traditional colours for your own nursery? You won't miss out because artist Sarah Haddad also makes steelscapes with blue boats or pink butterflies.
Of course, being a Babyology pick, these aren’t just ordinary artworks. Made from Australian steel, they also double-duty as magnetic boards for keeping party invitations, hair clips, dummies and other important bits and pieces right where you can find them.
All four designs are available here in Australia from Kindergallery for $395 each plus delivery.
