Someone’s collection of Schleich animals has been put to creative use!
Jeff Friesen is a professional photographer with a good sense of humour. When he is not photographing the serious stuff, he is composing neat little dioramas of animals and their ‘wild life’ – his daughter, June, lends a hand (and her toys).
To truly appreciate a photograph of an elephant painting, you must read Friesen’s very funny captions – “Bobo can’t get enough peanuts, but he does put limits on damask” and for those happening zebras, “It’s not common knowledge, but the zebra’s distinctive striping developed after the funky 1970s wallpaper, not the other way around.”

My favourites – Bessy the cultured cow gazing at a painting and the little brown bunny in ‘A Room of Rabbit’s Own’ – “We can all use a room of our own, a sanctuary free from the daily mix-ups with foxes and market gardeners. Here there’s space to think about other things, like maybe starting a small family of thirty-five kids or so.” So true, so true.
Find Friesen’s sensational photographs at Etsy’s Wild Life Prints, priced from a very reasonable US$20 each. Wild Life Prints will ship internationally.
