If you prefer to steer clear of anything too cutesy in the child decor front, then check out this great range of contemporary designed children’s bedlinen from Boodalee.
Designed by a mum who is also a product and graphic designer, she too was looking for something a bit different that would fit in with her modern home, and has come up with 6 different duvet/sheet collections. What is really great, is that although designed in the US, one of the designs ‘World in Pink/Teal’ incorporates the Sydney Opera House along with other landmark buildings from around the globe.
Other collections are castles, circus, city, space and trees. The duvets come with the eye-catching graphics, with different twin sheet options in co-ordinating colours. All are printed on 250-thread count 100% combed cotton percale for comfort and luxury.
Available through zac and zoé who will ship internationally, prices for a full set inclusive of duvet cover, pillow sham and twin sheets is US $240.
When it comes to adhesive wall transfers, aka decals, blik surface graphics were one of the first to bring out modern graphics for walls. Adding to their already extensive range, ‘Race Ya’ will appeal to rev-heads young and old. A racing circuit with straight and curved tracks and five cars, it will make a great addition to any child’s playroom.
If race tracks are not your thing, then check out the spotty ‘blik Baby’. A collection of spots available in two colourway options – the pastel Lavender Punch or the brighter Raspberry Cocoa. Packages are made up of 36 decals in 4 colours. Not just limited to your child’s room, depending on what configuration you decide, they will provide a striking addition to any wall in your home.
Blik is also involved in collaboarations with other artist groups and designers, including Threadless, the T-Shirt design community and Undoboy, the Malaysian graphic designer. Check out the great time-lapse video of a 2-hour installation of the Undoboy range.
Available online - Race Ya’ US$45 and ‘blik Baby’ US$30. Blik will ship internationally.

These butterfly, fish and saucer wall applications are a great way to brighten up a nursery without resorting to Dora the Explorer or Barbie wallpaper.
A nice idea would be to involve your child in the process by getting them to help paint the applications (which are primed for painting) before you stick them to the wall. And for those of us in rented homes, you could always stick them to cots, cupboards or toy-chests.
The butterflies are vailable from Wallspace for $75.95 and you can have a look at the whole range while you are there.
