In what feels like the speediest celebrity pregnancy of all time, Serena Williams and Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian have welcomed their first child together – a baby girl.
A baby girl!
Serena accidentally spilled the beans, re her baby-on-the-way condition back in April and just a few short months late it’s “hello baby!”
Tellingly, the new mum’s Instagram account and Twitter have been pretty quiet for the last week or so. We’re guessing (kind of hoping) the very next image to pop up might be a statement about their new little person. US Weekly are reporting that Serena gave birth to a baby girl on September 1, in Palm Beach, Florida and Twitter has been aflutter (aTwitter, even?) with excited congrats for this power couple.

Sister Venus was focused on tennis over the weekend and perhaps realised it was not her news to tell, but admitted she was thrilled to become an aunt.
“Obviously I’m super excited, words can’t describe,” Venus told an ESPN reporter on Saturday.
Serena’s coach Patrick Mouratoglou was all mixed emotions – one part elation and an equal measure of tough love, as you might expect.
“Congratulations @SerenaWilliams for your baby girl. I am so happy for you and I feel your emotion. BTW, I wish you a speedy recovery… we have a lot of work ahead of us.”
The US Open posted a mini tribute (above) to their favourite superstar tennis ace/new mum.
“Congratulations to Serena Williams for giving birth to a baby girl! Sending you [love] from your friends & family at the
#USOpen and WTA!”
It seems Serena’s instincts are on point, as she told Vogue that while they hadn’t found out the gender of their baby, she was sure she was carrying a girl.
“Alexis thinks we’re having a boy, but I have a strong suspicion that it’s a girl,” Serena said.
“Two weeks after we found out, I played the Australian Open. I told Alexis it has to be a girl because there I was playing in 100-degree weather, and that baby never gave me any trouble. Ride or die. Women are tough that way.”
Just a few days after announcing I was pregnant, we did this shoot for the @voguemagazine iconic September issue. I was so energetic that day but then I remember being totally exhausted and needed to take a break for an hour. I was still trying to understand this whole pregnancy process. Nowadays I have no ankles or toes and my fingers resemble sausages but it's moments like this that are captured by @mariotestino that makes everything worthwhile. Dress by my love @donatella_versace
“The most outrageous plan”
While Serena’s coach’s tweets might seem a tad premature, the champion athlete has already gone on the record about her return to tennis, saying she’s planning on defending her Australian Open title, early next year.
“It’s the most outrageous plan. I just want to put that out there. That’s, like, three months after I give birth. I’m not walking anything back, but I’m just saying it’s pretty intense. In this game you can go dark fast. If I lose, and I lose again, it’s like, she’s done. Especially since I’m not 20 years old. I’ll tell you this much: I won’t win less. Either I win, or I don’t play.”
Let’s face it, if anyone can win the Australian Open 3 months after having a baby, it’s Serena Williams!
