Prince George would prefer NOT to go to school, thank you very much

Prince William and Prince George

The little prince, who is (gulp!) third in line to the throne after his dad and grandfather, has had a red hot go at the whole school thing, but is thinking it’s not really for him…

“He didn’t want to go”

George’s father, Prince William, visited the town of Milton Keynes yesterday, comparing parenting notes with local (and mum), Louise Smith.

William told Louise that, on this particular morning, things were less than peachy at the school gate and she excitedly shared the conversation a little later.

“It was really exciting meeting William,” Louise told assembled reporters. “He told me he’d just dropped Prince George off at school and he didn’t want to go. Sounds a bit like mine, really.”

We’ve all been there and it’s quite bolstering to note that even royal offspring drag their feet a little, from time to time. Heck, most humans drag their feet, from time to time. At this late stage in the year, George’s reluctance mirrors how many of us are feeling right now!

Settling in

And who can blame him for being less than keen? Prince George had his very first day at Thomas’s Battersea school earlier this month, with the entire world watching as he shook hands with his new teacher as cameras clicked around him. That’d put us off our game too.

On George’s first day, William admitted it was the parents of new students that were most anxious, while the kids were taking things in their stride. That said, he predicted there would be cold feet at some point.

“We are all seeing how long that lasts before he doesn’t want to go,” Prince William told media.

School life

Prince William has apparently been dropping him off daily, since then, while George’s mum, Duchess Kate, has sadly been unable to take her turn at drop-offs. Kate’s stuck at home battling a debilitating case of  Hyperemesis Gravidarum – a serious illness that can strike during pregnancy, causing severe vomiting, exhaustion and dehydration.

It’s thought that Princess Charlotte will attend nursery school at Thomas’s Battersea too, next year, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Perhaps having a sibling along for the ride might help George warm up to the school run a little more?!
