Pregnant! Megan Gale shared a funny photo of her brand new “bun in the oven”

In the second high-profile pregnancy announcement in as many days, the delightful Megan Gale revealed the impending arrival of a little brother or sister for 2-year-old River (announcing it in a QUITE delicious way!)

Cooking a baby

Taking to Instagram, model mum Gale shared an image of a warming bread roll as she let followers in on her exciting baby news.

“Well would you look at that. There’s a bun in my oven,” Megan quipped. “Not quite ready to take it out just yet. Should be fully baked come Spring time.”

(Sources say The Bun is a small ciabatta, in case you’re a details person.)

Much-wanted, much-needed

Megan and her partner, AFL player Shaun Hampson, are obviously delighted by this family-growing development, after an unfairly challenging few years.

Tom’s dad died in April 2014, River was born a few weeks later in May and Megan’s dad died later that year in October.

“To go through Dad passing, and then a month later, having the sheer joy of your son being born, it was kind of bitter sweet,” Shaun told The Herald Sun.

“The worst year”

“It was kind of the best year for us, and the worst year as well in a lot of ways,” Megan said.

There was more sadness to come. Megan fell pregnant quite quickly, shortly after they began trying for baby number two after the birth of their son River. Devastatingly, she miscarried that baby in the early weeks of the pregnancy.

“I went into the scan and the obstetrician moved the ultrasound around my belly.”

“At one point he just stopped and said he was sorry but the baby was gone,” Megan recalled sadly.

Close for comfort

These life-changing events have most definitely taken a toll, but they also seem to have brought this couple closer together.

“I’ve always been proud of him, but the last two years, he has been extra special,” Megan said.

“He became a first-time dad, and lost his dad within a month, and just to see how strong he was … I’m super proud.”

Shaun apparently feels just the same about his Megan.

“I’ve never seen anyone work harder. She is an amazing mum, and balances everything. She is incredible,” he revealed.

This baby is obviously much-wanted – and a much-needed – positive development for this lovely family who, despite outward appearances, have been toughing it out for quite some time.

Congratulations to Shaun, Megan and River on their ace news!
