Jessica Biel admits she thought she was “selfless” until she had her son

With her latest film, The Sinner, about to be released Jessica Biel has started doing the publicity rounds, talking about motherhood, marriage and her work, in the process.

“You think you’re a selfless person”

Mum-of-one Jess spoke to Marie Claire as part of her upcoming August issue cover story for the mag, and she’s opened up about how being a parent to 2-year-old son Silas has pushed her into unchartered territory.

Jess says she thought she had the whole ‘what to expect when you’re expecting’ thing down pat, but quickly realised that her own agenda had been totally eclipsed by a fresh little human.

“You think you’re a selfless person, and then you realize you’re not,” she told Marie Claire.

“These little people come around, and they require so much, and your schedule is really not your own, nor is it important anymore, and it’s very clear that it’s your life now revolving around this dude.”

At pains to make it clear that she’s not putting her life on hold to pander to her child, she admits that, no matter what, every single thing is different post-baby.

“I’m not that person who feels like, ‘Oh, my whole life changes for my kid’, but it does!”

Right?!

When you're the only Dad at the mid-morning play-class, if you stay any longer than 20 minutes… THIS IS YOUR FATE. #dadlife

Partners in crime

Apart from being a world-famous, very beautiful actor, Jess owns a restaurant in downtown Hollywood – Au Fudge. A love of delicious things runs in the family with husband, singer Justin Timberlake, a partner in New York BBQ restaurant, Southern Hospitality.

Jess says this similar focus and shared approach to life keeps their relationship on solid ground.

“We have similar values; we believe in loyalty, honesty. We like to have fun. We like a lot of the same things,” Jess explained.

She revealed a like-minded ambitious streak meant the couple are on the same page, when it comes to goals and challenges. Jess notes that she’s also surrounded by people who share a similar experience, work-wise.

“We’re all very career-oriented, and you have to be a little selfish. I understand that about my peers—about being focused and driven—and if you can find that and someone who shares the same values as you, it’s like: Score!”

Score indeed. #CantStopTheFeeling!
