In a world of conspicuous consumption, it seems that soon-to-be parents are more vulnerable than most to the lure of charms of the Great Shopping Expedition.
Blame it on that devilish combo of pregnancy hormones and the nesting instinct kicking in, but something happens that makes us predisposed to buy a whole lot of baby stuff that seems to make total sense when we’re standing in the middle of the shop but has us scratching our heads days later, wondering what exactly we were thinking when we put cold hard cash down on the counter. Baby wipes warmer, we’re looking at you!
Even in a world that has made a high art of non-essential purchasing, we are still wondering how we got to a place where high heel crib shoes were dreamed up and put into production. But nonetheless, here they are – Pee Wee Pumps to be exact – and they seem to have found a place in the hearts of many mothers of baby girls.
Pee Wee Pumps for the win
Now just to be clear – no one, least of all Pee Wee Pumps’ founder, Michelle Holbrook, is thinking there is going to be any walking done in these little shoes. They are a flexible soft shoe with an adjustable strap that forms to the foot, so they’re comfortable to wear and they really are all about the fun of dressing your baby girl up in something very, very cute (if your fashion tastes run that way!).

Available in a range of bold prints and colours, each with its own glorious name – ‘Swanky’, ‘Diva’ and ‘Sassy’ being our particular favourites – there is a whole lotta attitude that comes with each pair. These are not your everyday crib shoes, that’s for sure.
What do you think? Are they fun, or crazy, or something a bit more sinister?
