I have just returned from the first day at the ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas, and it is amazing. I am completely overwhelmed by the size of the show and the rows and rows of exhibitors. I took a shot to try and show you how large it actually is – keep in mind this is only one section of one level.
Here are a few new items from favourite brands that caught my eye on Day One (please excuse any typos – it’s midnight here and I haven’t slept in 36 hours)
Hoppop is a brand that just launched today at the show and has some lovely potties, foot stools, baby baths and ride on toys. The Otto ride on comes in four colours and will retail at US$34.99.
From the makers of the stunning Wee.go bottles that recently hit Australia come these silicone teethers. I have to say they look stylish enough to wear as a bracelet, ensuring they are always on hand for little ones to use when out and about. The colours are terrific and I hope they make their way to our shores very soon.
I met the owner and designer at Hushamok, Julie Soboil, to see the new designs, wooden frames and new seat shown below that will be in stores soon. Julie also shared some of the lovely new prints planned for the Hushamok. They are designed in NZ and come in shades of green and black. These will be in stores in 2010 so we’ll keep you posted with more images once they are released.
I fell in love with these gorgeous felt baby carriers over at Petunia Pickle Bottom. They are part of the Scout range which we mentioned back in July 2008 on Babyology. These are so cozy and warm and perfect for either Mum or Dad to tote around bubs.
One of our favourite brands on Babyology that we caught up with today was Boon. They had a huge array of new products launching at the show as well as some prototypes, which I was quick to offer positive feedback on!
I love the concept of this shoe tree below, that they have named ‘Curl’, to hang on your kid’s cupboard. Little shoes are so stylish these days, why not display them while keeping little shoes together and saving space at the bottom of the cupboard at the same time.
One of my favourites from the new range (although still a prototype) is ‘wrap’ which allows you to use your own bowls and plates to feed your little ones. Wrap is a plate and bowl covering that a has a suction cup base to keep your baby from picking up the bowl or plate, while the wrap also protects it if dropped.
We’ll have more details and specifics on other brands later in the week when we talk to the designers. There are so many new products to share with you, I can hardly wait to get back there tomorrow and see some more products.
Tomorrow I will share the latest in prams, with some exciting new releases coming to Australia in 2010.

Have fun Mandi! I’m thinking back to the awesome time I had in Las Vegas this time last year. Wish I were there!
Love the bath toys. Say hi to the bumgenius team for me!!
(And happy birthday perhaps…?)
I am loving the ‘Snag’ and the ‘Curl’ wall hangers…please make sure you post on the website where we can purchase these from when they come to market. It is exactly what I have been looking for for the kids rooms.
Hi Mandi, It was great to catch up with you in Vegas! Wow – what a city. We will definitely be stocking the new Boon products as soon as they hit our shores in Australia. Cheers, Chris from UrbanBaby.
