Should you ever feel the need to ‘furnish’ the breakfast table with waffles in the shapes of chairs, lamps, tables and vases, artists Ryosuke Fukusada and Rui Pereira have created a mould. Handy.
Fukusada and Pereira have created this project dubbed Sapore dei Mobili. Their waffle mould is a play on the adage, “Let them eat cake!” and also intended to redefine the meaning of ‘good taste’ in furniture. On a slightly more serious note, the designers also wanted to make the point that “…consumers are unable to digest the huge amount of new products that companies are launching every year”. The waffle iron was unveiled at the recent Salone Milan 2012 international furniture show, so I guess it was point taken as visitors snacked on a ‘side table waffle’ while sitting on the newest designer couch!
