I’m not exactly sure what is going on here – is it a cubby house? Is it a dress? Is it a performance piece? Regardless, it’s so bizarre that it has to be shared.
Created by designers Aamu Song and Johan Olin, who together form the Helsinki-based architecture and design firm Company, the aim of the Spatial Dress is to keep mum’s hands free and the kids busy. Well, I guess it’s mission accomplished, provided you don’t have to walk anywhere or plan on sitting down.

Scroll through some of the design projects at Company and you could be forgiven for thinking you are flicking through that book about crazy Japanese inventions that did the rounds a few years ago – there’s a hooded backpack for when you need to carry stuff and wear a hat at the same time; riding trousers for families without ponies; Goldilocks-inspired chairs for sleeping; and penguin dressups for kids… and adults.

Then there are flashes of simple Scandinavian design brilliance – a sweet mushroom stool, superb wooden jigsaws and birch bags that without doubt are the most stylish shopping baskets I’ve seen.

Some of the things featured at Company are design concepts, others are available to buy. If your Finnish is up to it, contact Company directly for purchasing information.

Wearable cubby.. I showed my partner and he thought it was hilarious! The only practical use I can see for it is dish-washing time where you are in one spot most the time. But it does look pretty kewl though!
I love it. Mu son loves to play under any fabric he can find. The towels, clothes, blankets and sheets are all secret fun worlds .. he would go nuts for this . He already hides under my skirts to play peek a boo .. sometimes at inappropriate moments. You would feel like a total nutter though wouldnt you ? lol
