There are basically two types of parents when it comes to parties – those who can work miracles with a bowl of icing and a palette knife… and those who can’t. Sydney mum Ana might not know her buttercream from her ganache but she didn’t let that stop her throwing a killer party when son Max recently turned one.

Instead of throwing her hands up in despair and declaring birthday parties non grata in her house, (something even I’m sorely tempted to do when birthday season rolls around at my place!) Ana did the very sensible, very smart thing. She called in the experts. And my, didn’t they come to the rescue in the most spectacular way!

Mon Tresor came to the party – literally – with a wonderful and very boyish car theme to match Ana’s vision for a celebration where red, white and blue reigned supreme.
Suzanna from Mon Tresor waved her magic party wand – and presto – one picture-perfect party in the park for Max’s big day. Gigantic red balloons and a personalized banner set the tone for the sweets table.

The blue elements came from the tableware and a jar of sugared almonds, the red courtesy of cute paper straws, jaffas, fresh cherries and car-shaped cookies from Hello Naomi, with an oversized jar of milk bottle lollies adding the white tone. Hello Naomi also created the eye-catching birthday cake.
Platters of sushi and sandwiches kept hungry tummies sated for both big and little guests, including the beaming birthday boy (pictured below). Most importantly, Ana happily tells us, a fun time was had by all.
