Thanks Kay. Do you mean the stools? Yes, I had my mother-in-law sew them for me. (Tragically, I am an ideas gal, but have absolutely no sewing ability!). They are made as slipcovers to go over Ikea stools. The spotted tops have pillow stuffing in them to give a capped toadstool-like look.

Trudi, I know your pain! I searched high and low for a nice fairy – my daughter was very specific about how it had to look. She wanted a sitting fairy in a pink dress and most of all, it had to be pretty! This one was perfect and sat just the right way to perch on a cake.
I looked in every gift shop near me and spent ages trawling the web too, before I lucked out with this one on Ebay. I have just checked the seller’s store and this particular fairy isn’t listed but she has many other fairies. It might be worth contacting them, they may be able to source one for you. Caroline, the melamine spotted cups came from homewares store House. It was the spotted baking cups for the cupcakes that came from Hey YoYo – sorry for the confusion!
Melanie, the tent is a gazebo shade tent, so it only has mesh sides rather than canvas. You can find them at camping store and most discount department stores too. We’ve had this one for some years now, so can’t give an exact source, but certainly try places like Kmart, Big W, Rays – even the Reject Shop or similar in your state.

The tent is such a fabulous idea – I keep being drawn back to it. Not really the camping type – is it just an ordinary tent that I buy from a camping supplier? Our backyard is not very woodlike – I am wondering whether I could adapt the idea to create a forest for Red Riding Hood.

I love it! The party had so many lovely aspects to it and even though there were a few bought things, you can also see the effort that you put into it. It struck the right balance of looking very well organised and creative, without looking too planned and bought (eg when everything matches to ‘perfection’). My daughter is only 2yo and I can’t wait until she’s a little older and into fairies :)

Melissa, I didn’t keep a running tally so I’m not sure what I spent. (Gosh, that makes me sound so frivolous!) If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say it would probably be somewhere between two and four hundred or so dollars. Roughly.

Beautiful. And I don’t think it is over the top or looks like it costs thousands of dollars. Just a beautiful party that your daughter will remember. The marshmallow toadstools are fabulous – will remember those for my daughter’s Red Riding Hood bash
