Want to catch another big fat case of party envy? Then this truly beautiful Enchanted Garden party will do it. We’re completely in awe of mum Sharon, who made just about every single incredible thing here herself.

Yup, that’s right. Made it all. From the raspberry jellies and cupcakes on the party table to the sweet take-home favour boxes displayed to such perfect effect on a pretty shelf.

This is the party that absolutely, positively puts the “p” in pretty. Having two daughters who adore pink made it very easy when Sharon decided to combine their parties late last year. She wanted something very girly and dainty for her daughters, whose birthdays are only ten days apart. Wow, didn’t she achieve that, and then some!

The sweets table is so divine, I almost can’t bear to look at it! Sharon used lots and lots of lace paper doilies with metres and metres of inexpensive satin ribbon to lend an air of elegance to things. So there’s bows atop all the bonbon jars, so carefully cradling their colour-coded pink and white sweets. And there’s bows tied around the chocolate bars, covered in pretty paper and adorned with an equally pretty tag – a free birthday printable found online.

Sharon even used ribbon to pretty up the glass drinks dispenser, found at Little Big Company. Other party bits and bobs, like the little cupcake stands, came from Mon Tresor.

More ribbons adorn the pretty boxes you see stacked on the party table. They started out life as simple white cartons before Sharon had her way with them, decorating them with ribbon and wrapping paper to make stackers to add height to the table. There’s even ribbon and doilies on the drink bottles. And how delightful are those tutu-topped cupcakes. Be still, my aching heart!

Now on to the birthday cakes. Eldest daughter Etana, turning seven, wanted a Tangled cake, so Sharon sculpted two small round chocolate mud cakes around a Rapunzel doll. Throw in some lilac fondant, another one of those pretty ribbons, and there you have it. One birthday cake extraordinaire. Four-year-old Lucia requested unicorns and rainbows and got both in a delicious tiered vanilla cake of palest pink, set off to sweet perfection by a decorative wooden tree found some time ago at homewares store Bed Bath and Table.

There’s so many more handmade details that combined to make this party so very special. Sharon confesses she spent months planning the double soiree, setting aside a little time each week to work on things. The tulle wreath, pretty lace buntings, lanterns, pinwheels, tablecloths, placecards, menu cards and more were all made with much love and care by her own two (ridiculously talented) hands.

But before you slump in your chair and wail that such stunning parties are impossible for mere mortals, know this. Sharon is no party professional, but a regular stay-at-home mum, like so many of us. She does confess to making birthday cakes on the side as a bit of a hobby, but wouldn’t you too if you were so damn good at it!

  5. BEAUTIFUL!!!!! But how do you keep it looking like that??
My problem is there is always one guest that decides they want to help themselves to the table before hand and destroy your hard work.
Tips would be good. Love it all.
