oh and the reson I was so drawn to this story was because of the INCREDIBLE job you did on the birthday cake. I only hope I can do as good a job on the cake as you when my little one has her birthday!

Thanks Jessica for your response. I think you did such an amazing job on your little girl’s birthday party – you’re a fun, clever and dedicated mum (honestly, where did you find the time to do such clever things!!!). I sometimes just get stressed when I see or go to some parties and witness all the wasteage that goes on for the sake of a few hours – but well done on planning to reuse those things…it’s great that you had already thought about that. I was just putting it out there since unfortunately the majority of people dont think about where all that stuff ends up or even where it comes from.

Thanks Sandy for your feedback in regards to this party, the paper articles used were paper plates, paper cups, paper straws, paper napkins, paper cupcake wrappers, paper lanterns, paper cupcake stands, paper liners on the trays, photofetti, cupcake toppers. All paper items with the exception of the cupcake toppers, cupcake stands, paper chains, paper lanterns, photofetti and paper liners were used, then recycled in my home recycle bin (we took all rubbish with us when we left the park), the paper liners, cupcake stands, paper lanterns, paper chains, photofetti and cupcake toppers have been stored by me for reuse or refashion at other parties and events. I find that the use of plastic that can rarely be recycled in full successfully or refashioned well is also not a fantastic demonstration of best utilising the earths resources. Considering I was in a park a fair distance from home it was not possible for me to bring along china plates and cutlery. Thanks so much for your compliments and party feedback.

I love this…although i do have to worry about the sustainability with all the paper used…dont get me wrong, it is absolutely gorgeous, but what are we teaching our kids in terms of consumerism/using the earth’s resources?
