  1. My fav is the boy in the boat. It looks the most like a painting, it is simple yet elegant and to see the little boys head just above the boat is simply beautiful

  10. The boy in the boat keeps drawing me back. It feels so familiar but still full of wonder & anticipation – just like childhood should be. Just beautiful attention to detail.

  12. Wow, wow, WOW!!! All of these images are absolutely spellbinding! Inspirationally whimsical and wonderful. I am amazed by every one of these gorgeous photos… But if I had to choose just one it would be the red-dressed girl in the woods with the beautiful deer in the background. It seems somewhat magical and ethereal, love it!

  14. I love the “Princess and the Pea” style piece. It’s beautifully composed and immediately brings to mine the fairy tale; it captures the whimsy and fantasy of childhood while still being a piece of mature art which you would keep on your wall long after the children have grown. Beautiful piece.

  15. I shared this with my 4yo. His favourite was the girl in the tree with the owl and balloons. His comment- “I like it, because- how did they get her up in the tree?” I love owls too.

  16. The boy in the boat is beautiful, what a lovely keepsake

    Posted .
  17. The stars is my favourite! I love it so much because it reminds me of my daughter; every time I lay her down to sleep I tell her to always aim for the moon because even if she misses she’ll land amongst the stars.

  18. I can’t decide between the little boy on the plane or the boy with the dinosaur or the little girl with the owl and balloons.

The boys ones capture what it’s like to be a little boy so perfectly.

The girl with the balloons appeals to me because I can totally see my little girl sitting up there off in her own little world like she often is.

    They are just divine.

  19. The whimsical image of the girl perched in the tree is truly beautiful and really speaks to me. It reminds me of the magic faraway tree books, which are a family favourite. I imagine that the girl is in an enchanted wood. She has climbed the magic faraway tree right up to the clouds, and is peeking into a new, strange land. It is a symbolic image, as not only do we call our daughter “little owl” but I hope like the girl in the image, she never loses her sense of wonder, adventure and imagination – Renee Samoluk

  20. Having a boy of my own i am particularly swayed by the boy pictures and while i agree the boy in the boat is beautiful and the boy on the plane is exciting i love the humour of the boy with the dinosaur so that one is my favourite

    Posted .
  21. The conceptual portrait that touches me the most is Nicolle Kennedy’s picture of the boy standing amongst sand and dunes. The receeding land and skyscapes remind me of the infinite possibiities of childhood and it reminds me to make my daughter’s life as magical and as full of opportunity as I can!

  22. I’d love to win the ‘boy in a boat’ photo and send it to my husband as a surprise – he is in the navy and doesn’t get to see our little boy as often as he would like. He is a big sailing fan so seeing our little one in a boat would mean the world to him!

    Posted .
  23. Nicolle’s portraits are incredible. I love the Princess and the Pea portrait. It reminds me of all the wonderful bedtime stories my Dad read to me as a little girl and inspires me to pass these stories down to my little girl.

    Posted .
  24. The girl in the woods with the deer is so enchanting and whimsical – it has a traditional ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ mixed with modern day ‘Twilight’ feel to it – so very fantasy like!

    Posted .
  25. I love the boy and the dinosaur, I have two little girls that love dinosaurs, who says they are just for boys.

    Posted .
  26. The girl overlooking the bridge with the peacock is sublime – it’s so cosmopolitan and has a European edge to it. It’s almost as if the girl is peering over the Rialto Bridge in Venice, joined by a curious Italian peacock!

    Posted .
  27. Definitely the stars in the sky picture for me as it has such an empowering message: the stars, twinkling bright, shining down their light, will remind my daughter to always shoot for the stars!

  31. I love the forrest pic. Its has a very magical feel lika a fairy could pop out at anytime :)

    Posted .
  32. My favourite Conceptual photograph is the “Stars”. Although we can see the stars everynight, it is not until a child gasps in wonder at their first glimpse of the stars (and the moon) that night that we are reminded of how beautiful they really are.

    Posted .
  33. OMG! I have been to some of these places, and I would love to take my daughter!

    Posted .

  40. The boy on the plane. Chances are my son is wearing a cape right now.

    Posted .
  41. These are magical photos – I’ve never seen photos like these before. It is hard to pick just one but being a fan of the Princess and the Pea…and a person who hates “lumps” in her bed, I love the “Princess and the Pea” (first photo).

    Posted .
  42. Such a tough choice as they’re all gorgeous in their own unique way. However, I keep being drawn back to the boy in the boat. The serenity and calm that the picture evokes is hard to go past.

    Posted .
  43. The boy in the boat took my breath away with its pure light and heavenly reflection. I just adore it – it reminds me of the hopes and dreams all tucked up in our little princes and princesses. Heaven!

  48. My goodness! Stunning! I love the deer in the woods photograph. Just beautiful. What a wonderful way to capture childhood.

    Posted .
  49. The boy on the plane for the smile it bought to my face.

    Posted .
  50. The boy in the boat reminds me of Narnia and Prince Caspian with the room full of water and as that boy peers into the water, I think of Sebastian peering into the book in the Neverending Story. My kids have wonderful imaginations and it would be wonderful to capture them in their imagination before we all grow up. I feel like I could jump into that picture like Mary Poppins, Bert and the children Jane and Michael. It’s a picture that draws me into it’s world and would stir the imagination of a child who gazed upon it as they played.

    Posted .
  51. Nicolle’s photography captures the whimsy of childhood. Such beauty in each portrait. I love the “boy in the boat” and the “fawn and the girl”. Absolutely gorgeous and so different to others child photographers.

  54. wow these conceptual pieces are truly special. So much effort into the smallest detail. They allow you take what you want from them, create a story, remember childhood memories, create new memories, teach us lessons and make us look at ourselves. The artwork is a one of kind and will always be a timeless piece hanging on your wall.

I cant decide between the girl in the red dress and the boy in the desert with his wagon. Both full of a emotion and hidden meanings.

  55. I have recently been reading a lovely book to my girls about a girl that explores a tree and finds an owl with her eggs…so the moment I saw that concept photo I couldn’t help but break out into a smile! This scene would speak to my girls on so many levels and they would relate to the whimsical joy of climbing a tree (as they do on Nonno’s olive grove farm!) and perhaps meeting a bird (never going to happen as they climb like loud, noisy elephants on a rampage hahaha)!

    Posted .
  56. My favourite is the boy on top of the sand dune. His wagon holds his one true possession and his fearless stance says that he can be anywhere (his imagination takes him). Absolutely mesmerizing.

    Posted .
  57. I love the girl with the balloons and can picture my granddaughter Summer looking gorgeous posed like that.

    Posted .
  58. There are three I like best, the one of the girl on the branch with the owls and balloons; the girl in the woods with the fawn; the little boy in the boat. Of the three I think the little boy in the boat strikes me the most. He reminds me of both the Owl and the Pussy Cat off to sea in the pea green boat, but also the boy from Where the Wild Things Are. All the shots are very evocative of fairy stories, can’t miss little red riding hood and the Princess and the Pea. Beautiful. I had a fairy storey themed baby shower and now have a three week old daughter and I would definitely consider getting some shots of her done with Nicole.

  59. My fav is the concept of the kids and the stars. My children are my shooting stars (the one that is here and the one that is on his way) and this picture illustrates that with simplistic beauty.

    Posted .
  60. My favourite is the boy in the boat. I love that this little man seems to be looking down at his reflection in the water and pondering his place in the world while still being attached to a helping hand (the bird). It symbolises to me a child/parent journey – allowing your child to grow & learn who they are, while still providing a loving, guiding hand along the way.

    Posted .
  61. The Nicole Kennedy Photography conceptual piece that I love most is the little boy in the boat allowing the little bird to lead him on his journey, Gazing into the unknown below, surrendering his fears and being on top of the world!

    Posted .
  78. The Princess and the Pea conceptually what a fabulous idea and wouldn’t every little girl look beautiful sitting up there on all those mattresses.

    Posted .
  79. My favourite, although they’re all great,
Is the wee little girl sitting up high,
Atop the mattresses nearly reaching the sky.
    She is innocent and sweet,
    So whymsically pretty,
It reminds me so, of the Princess and the pea!

    Posted .

    Posted .
  83. My 2 year old said – Oh wow (staring at the boy standing on the plane) – my turn? Pleeeeeaaase! I think he said it all! For the rest of the day he dressed up as pilot, not sure if he realises that real pilots ride inside the plane! He’ll get that reality one day…

    Posted .
  84. The boy in the boat its an incredible art work and make me feel relax

    Posted .
  85. Stars – I want my son to dream of reaching for those stars and surrounding himself with incredible imaginings that he can dare to make real.

    Posted .
  86. I think the children with the stars is my favourite but they are all amazing.

  93. I LOVE the boy in the boat conceptual piece – so inspiring.
What a wonderful prize to win.

    Posted .
  94. These are all absolutely stunning but if I had to pick I’d say my favourite is the little girl in the meadow holding onto the flowers to save from floating away in the breeze. Beautiful and thought provoking all these images encourage imagination and creativity, but this one in particular ‘just is’ my little girly princess.

    Posted .
  95. I love both, they look like they are straight from a storybook.

    Posted .
  96. At 11 months old Felix is already a little dare devil so it would have to be the wing walking bi-plane photo. What an amazingly special and fun keepsake.

    Posted .
  101. I love the girl climbing the flower, I think it gives the childhood sense of everything being big but achievable.

    Posted .
  102. Its hard to narrow down but I love the princess and the pea, the conceptual idea of making books, fables, ideas as portraiture is just beautiful! I have an almost 5 year old that has has a few developmental issues and Ive always likened him to the character max from where the wild things are…. just to be able to visualise such portraiture and bring it to life in print… amazing! :)

    Posted .
  108. Have gorgeous daughter, will travel! These images are stunning, every one an aspect of the child I adore. In practicality, I’m sure my choice would depend on her mood on the day…but philosophically, I always admire her Amelia Hart, feats-of-brilliance-in-a-bi-plane moments.

    Posted .
  109. The boy on the plane. Reminds me of the 1920′s wing walkers. My grandson is quite the daredevil and has been dressed in aeroplane’s since he was born.

  116. Starry starry nights, dancing with the stars across the sky

    Posted .
  117. The stars, as we always encourage our children to reach for them. One wants to be an AFL star, the next a Wrestling star and our youngest is a star in her own right, overcoming heart surgery at 2 days old, so everything she now achieves gives us a shining light

  130. I love the whimsy of the boy in the boat. It captures the innocence and adventure of childhood.

    Posted .
  131. Owls and big bouncy balloons aren’t in most children’s portraits, and most children’s portraits aren’t as special as these. I can see my Sunday in any of these. Feisty or fantasy, just perfect.

    Posted .
  132. I love the boy in the boat. Really stirs the imagination, SO many stories can be born from this one picture.

    Posted .

  135. At 2 and 4 my boys imaginations are starting to shine through and I know they would just love the boat image on their wall.

As they sailed the seven seas
    I’d watch with such joy
    Then hear about the adventures
Of a boat and 2 gorgeous little boys

Just moved to share one room
They need something for the wall
They could lie in bed and tell stories
Rather than sneak out into the hall
