Once upon a time, there was a photographer…

Children can capture their Cinderella moment forever with photography that blurs the line between fact and fiction.

Originally from Edinburgh, photographer Lorna Freytag’s amazing images have graced the pages of magazines around the world and captured children ‘doing’ the most astounding things, from standing in a flock of flamingoes to living in a dollhouse. Inspired by dark forests, magical landscapes and old fairytales, Freytag uses her unique style to produce incredible backdrops for children’s portraits.

I couldn’t resist looking at every single image in Freytag’s entire online portfolio but I especially loved the whimsical Fairytale Collection – see how many you can identify.

Unfortunately for Babyology readers, Freytag is based in England, making a portrait session for your child a somewhat expensive exercise. Nevertheless, I’m sure it could be arranged to capture your own fairytale!

Katrina Whelen

Katrina studied planning and design, did the hard yards working in a big office building and then traded it all in for a relaxing (!) life at home with four children. She now fills her time with writing, completing a degree in genetics and taxiing her children around Melbourne to their various sporting commitments (not necessarily in that order).
