Tiger Woods picked up his first golf club before the age of two. Ron Howard began his Hollywood career at eighteen months. Picasso showed hints of his artistic genius as a toddler. And Beyoncé won her first talent show when she was only seven. I wonder what the future holds for this mini Melbourne snapper.
Only three years old, Rhett already has his own blog showcasing his photography exploits around Melbourne. He takes the pictures with the family’s point-and-shoot Canon and then mum Tara interprets his toddler musings and inspirations for the rest of us on Rhett’s own blog, The Whipper Snapper.
Like most toddlers, I like to roll around the floor. I like to do it with a camera in my hand mostly, because A: I get to capture the moment and B: I don’t get told off. If I do get told off, I just tell mummy and daddy I’m making art and they leave me alone to get the job done.
Tara, an artisan and amateur photographer, proudly tells that Rhett started taking photos almost before he could walk. Here he is as an even younger youngster capturing a portrait for one of his play-date buddies, who also happens to have his own blog about fashion and other things.
Tara tells us they decided to start the blog because Rhett’s images were “pretty cool to look at” and they thought other people might enjoy looking at them as well. She assures us that when he doesn’t have a camera in his hand, her budding Ansell Adams is just a regular little boy who also likes cars and puddles.
Here are some of Rhett’s most recent images, taken from his unique toddler perspective. We look forward to seeing this little snapperazzo’s photographs gracing the covers of countless online mags in the future!
