At the start of the school year, there’s always loads of magazine articles about ways to make lunch boxes ‘exciting’. Invariably one of the suggestions is to add a little note or joke for your child to read. Quite honestly, I find this idea a little naff but there’s always an exception…

Each day, Rob Kimmel draws half a picture on a sticky note for his eight-year-old son, Ben. He pops it in Ben’s lunch box and Ben completes the drawing and the caption at school.

Rob started the comic-in-the-lunch-box routine when Ben was in kindergarten and they have since collected their joint creations on their website, Wander Monster. This takes the ‘lunch box note’ to a whole new level and I’m quite certain that Ben’s classmates are all desperate to see the drawing each day – lucky (and very creative) kid!
