When my kids were very little I made a personal pledge to avoid mainstream commercial characters taking over the bedrooms and kitchen. This meant nothing that was the latest fad for boys on bed linen, plates or bowls.
Five years later, I can report that I have held fast on the bed linen front but I’m not doing so well on the melamine collection. This is probably because up until recently, there was little dinnerware readily available that didn’t feature commercial superheroes.
Thankfully that is changing and when I spotted the divine Danish Green Gate collection available at Canberra’s Little Living, I could envisage a well set dinner table once again.
There are two patterns – one for boys and one for girls – but you can easily mix and match. The predominantly red polka-dotted Naomi pattern is simple and timeless, with pale blue highlights giving it a modern edge. The nautical themed Oliver collection features fantastic red and contrasting blue designs, including some striped pieces. The Green Gate range also includes coordinating cutlery sets.
Plates begin at $9.50, bowls are $15, mugs are $12 and cutlery sets are $25.
Whilst you’re visiting Little Living, check out the adorable ‘Le Champignon’ stool. We gave you a sneak preview of the mushroom stools at Kids inStyle. Now you can start building your own fairy ring, with the stools selling at Little Living for $80.
Little Living ships Australia wide.
