How to describe a Cirque du Soleil performance? Jaw-dropping at the very least!
Cirque du Soleil’s latest production to tour Australia is OVO and it’s all about creepy crawlies.

Inspired by the energetic world of insects, acrobats teem across the stage, scale walls and ‘fly’ through the sky. From juggling ants and butterflies that float to jumping fleas and a hand-balancing dragonfly, the acrobats transform with an amazing show that’s simultaneously in the air and underfoot.
OVO includes original music – a mix of Brazilian samba music, electronic beats and sampled insects sounds, and Cirque du Soleil’s trademark, spectacular costumes, of which the insect world makes an inspiring starting point. Costume designer Liz Vandal used futuristic superheroes and suits of armour to inform her designs for the OVO costumes – the results bring the insects to life.

OVO is now on in Sydney at the Entertainment Quarter, finishing November 25, 2012. Ticket prices begin at $74 for adults and $54 for children. Following the Sydney shows, OVO tours Australia, stopping in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. Tickets for all shows are available online.

Beatrix I think your 13 month old will thoroughly enjoy the show. I took my 18 month old to DRALION a couple of years ago and she was mesmerised for the whole show. She sat on my knee and sat quite happily for the whole show! I was concerned about her sitting still but she was great. We had been to see the Wiggles, and I had a difficult time keeping her interested! Go figure! Maybe she is a bit more ‘culturally’ inclined! LOL!!!! We make an effort to see each show that comes out. And she loves the entire experience! OVO is superb and you will all thoroughly enjoy it!
