Bio-Oil for pregnancy stretch marks, skin tone & scars

I thought I had gotten off scot-free when I reached thirty-six weeks pregnant with my first baby and no stretch marks. The final six weeks did me in, however (yes he was born at forty-two weeks!) and before I knew it, I had a nice spread of them across my lower tummy, not to mention a fresh surgery scar.

For some of us, stretch marks are inevitable – genetically determined right down to the very building blocks of our skin, they’re often a fact of motherhood, and whether you choose to have a c-section or simply have to get baby out that way, it too leaves its mark on our bodies.

There are ways you can minimise the amount and severity of stretch marks and scars, and improve their appearance once you have them. Bio-Oil can be used from the first trimester of pregnancy as a preventative for stretch marks. Smoothing a little over your expanding belly each day leaves skin supple and ready for the increasing challenges ahead. Those experiencing uneven skin tone and dry, itchy and flaky skin can also use it on affected areas. Post-pregnancy, Bio-Oil will be your nurturing partner in minimising all of these things.

Bio-Oil has been specially created with a unique ingredient called PurCellin Oil™ which makes it a ‘dry oil’ so it sinks into your skin and won’t leave you feeling greasy! The blend of natural plant oils include Calendula, Lavender, Rosemary and Chamomile in addition to Vitamin E and A.

Right now, Bio-Oil has pledged to donate $5 to the Look Good… Feel Better charity if you share your Skin Stories on the Bio-Oil Facebook page. The first two thousand stories will attract this donation as well as putting you in the running to win Bio-Oil products.

  1. Just checked out the link as well, does seem scary that i used it. Didn’t help me, I have heaps of marks, they do bother me but that is life. So does anyone think it a bit hypocritical that they are donating to a cancer charity but the product can cause it! All the best to those ladies though.

  2. I never tried Bio Oil until after I gave birth to my first born afterwards. The stretch marks didn’t disappeared instantly (I wish if that was the case!) but it made my skin around the area supple and nourished. I stopped using it three months later but I will consider using it again after my second – If I’m lucky. Stretch marks, to me, I think of them as pregnancy enduring war scars. At least my hubby didn’t complained.

  3. At the risk of sounding too much like a worry-wort, will the vitamin A have any impact on the unborn child as I’ve heard that, while pregnant, you need to watch your intake of vitamin A?

On a brighter note, I used bio oil for 2 years straight because I had chronic acne & scarring & now you’d never have known I had acne at all. Its a really good product when used long-term.

  4. Omg! This is my first pregnancy & I freaked out when at my 3rd MO. I had all stretch marks on my breast and hips. So my husband had no price limit when it came to the stretch mark cream. So I looked and found the Lady Soma Skin & Nail Treatment! It’s Europe’s #1 stretch mark cream (YES, you can use it for stretch marks) and & I had to buy it! After 3 months of using this (I’m on my 2nd jar already) the redness of the stretch marks are fading from red to dark shade now to little nothing every week. It works GREAT’! I got 4 more Months 2 go in my Pregnancy. I will b using this Lady Soma Skin & Nail treatment 4 me & my baby girl

  5. Bio oil is a very cleverly marketed product. It is full of petro chemicals and skin irritants that are toxic to the body and unborn baby. Do your research before using this oil. Try rubbing in organic virgin coconut oil. There are a lot of safer alternatives out there.
