Bertha and Marmaduke - luxurious figures for you to sew E-mail

I'm agog over the exquisite detail in the fabric of these two divine dolls. Handy parents, grandparents and friends can whip up a fancy lady by the name of Bertha, or a haughty cat named Marmaduke using this cotton/linen fabric kit by UK printmaker Sarah Young. Note the lovely layers of illustration in Bertha's dress skirts, and the way the patterns in Marmaduke's coat resemble ornate decor from the turn of last century.

Pop a weight in the bottom and use it as a door stop. Otherwise Marmaduke and Bertha will make perfectly elegant cushions and play things for your home. They're the antidote to minimalism - embrace the opulent and create sumptuous surroundings, whilst collecting kudos for your clever handiwork!

We're cat people so I fancy a Marmaduke as a door stop for that nasty laundry door that tends to slam shut, usually just as I've gotten the baby to sleep. I suspect my toddler would relocate him on a regular basis so it's handy that Marmaduke is multicoloured as he'd fit in anywhere in the house.

Instructions are printed on the fabric sheet so you can sew up a storm and have it done in no time. Alternatively, snap one up as a project for an older child.
