Looking for a great way to display your holiday photos? Well this is the blurb for you. We've been a fan of self-publisher Blurb since we reviewed them last year and have been getting photo books printed regularly ever since. Now, they've added two great new features which are well worth the money.
The first is the ability to use your own logo, rather than the Blub one on the contents page (or leave it blank). This helps make your book look even more professional. The second is the ability to get your book printed on Premium Paper, a 100-pound text silk-finish paper which is 35% heavier than their standard paper. We just received out first book using the new paper and the texture is fantastic. It's amazing how much difference better paper makes to the experience of a book.
The costs vary depending on the size of your book, so check the pricing chart for details. Babyology readers get US$10 off any order of US$29.95 or more until 31 January, 2009 by using the code 'babyology'.
As some of you already know, I'm a wordy girl so I'm always drawn to alphabet-themed children's gear. It's no surprise then that I'm loving the new range from
Gin & Tonic.
An old-fashioned circus-style alphabet with modern colouring is printed
on placemats, bibs and cushions. If you're not as nuts for letters as I am, then there's a gorgeously simple purple elephant on white background for those 'Little Safari' faring kids.
The sets would make a beautifully unique gift or special treat for
your own baby. I'm sure these will be incredibly popular for baby
shower gifts as they are unisex, chic, and a well-rounded and
generous gift. The cushion will remain an unusual decor piece as baby
grows and reaches school age. It will fit in with a wide range of
decoration tastes and familiarise children with the forms of letters
long before they know the letters themselves.
The sets include bib, placemat and cushion (30 x 30cm) - for $72.95 from
La Toriana.
The
Flux
sure beats those ugly door stoppers we're used to buying from the supermarket. Inject a little imagination into an ordinary object and it'll be a sure-fire winner among us design-conscious parents.
Now baby's fingers will be safe from entrapment as he explores the terrain around the doors within your home. And you don't have to sacrifice your impeccable style nor break the bank. You won't need to throw them away once baby has grown up either - they'll still be handy for that laundry door that slams shut!
Thanks to sturdy but flexible plastic, the Flux will fit any type of
door or window, gripping without marking or causing damage. They look
like colourful apostrophes or little birdies, and will add a fun element
to your home whilst protecting your 'younguns'. Choose from white, orange, yellow, black, green, red, blue and beige - wowsers, there sure are enough colours to suit everyone.
My youngest is into everything right now and loves to play around doors, opening and shutting them. Of course he's supervised closely, however it would be nice if I could relax a little more at this stage of his life. It gets particularly hairy when you add a three year old into the mix. I think a few Flux will be heading my way.
Here's a great gift to put under the Christmas tree, a Waste-Free Lunch kit from Kids Konserve - perfect for the new school year!
Lynn Julian and Chance Claxton are the brains behind Kids Konserve. Focussing on how to minimise school lunch hour rubbish, they've set about sending the message of conservation to children.
Each Waste-free lunch kit has a stainless steel drink bottle, two stainless steel food containers, a food kozy (replacing traditional cling wrap) and a cloth napkin - all in a recycled cotton bag with aluminium name tag. Who knew you could be taking important steps to save the environment while eating your lunch? Of course, you don't have to buy the whole lunch kit as all items are available separately.
Waste-free Lunch kits are priced at US$40 and available from Kids Konserve webstore. Unfortunately shipping is not yet available to Australia, but we'll let you know when it is!
