Eon proudly showcases New Zealand design talent in furniture, home decor and things for children. Founder Angela Roper believes the things you surround yourself with should be a reflection of who you are, and it is this combined with the desire to provide a platform for NZ designers, that has propelled Eon into existence.

The entire collection is worth attention and the children's ranges are no exception. The Elephant Tee from Auckland label "Richard...son" looks brilliant in black. It also comes in blue and pink.

There's a neat ceramics range especially for kids featuring ducks, horses, cows and piggies. I love the two-handled cup - great for littlies perfecting their grip. All of the designs come in unisex colours which is handy if your kids don't care which one they get at mealtime. If they do, then simply get them to choose an animal or colour, and there won't be any squabbles!

Check out the Bo Mini Moo Boots. Made from expertly handled New Zealand hides and skins, tiny toes will be kept toasty all winter long. Each pair is unique as they are made to show the individual markings of the animal they are made from. They're just fluffy enough on the outside so that my toddler will look like a small yeti!

Boots are NZ$129, tees are $45 and the ceramics run at $29.90 per piece. Email Eon regarding shipping.

Pinecone & Chickadee - sweetness on paper

Great stationery has always been an obsession of mine so I'm often browsing sites far and wide for something a little different. People are so generous when it comes to babies and children, and we send out many thank you cards a year to show people our appreciation for their gifts. Pinecone + Chickadee make cards and journals, as well as apparel for men, women, babies and children - all screenprinted by hand.

Their cards are so sweet - adorned with owls, chicks, baby elephants and pretty trees. I notice there's even a great family card featuring an adult bird with three baby chicks - great for those three-children families who are rarely catered for in a predominantly two chick world. There's a small selection of journals and notebooks which are a great gift to include with the cards. My favourite is the wintery trees journal.

Pinecone + Chickadee came about as a result of a seachange made by Amy and Noah with their small son Darby. Seeking peace after a life in busy New York, they set up a screenprinting room in their new home in Maine, and so the cuteness began!

The website is set up for US purchases only, but Pinecone + Chickadee will gladly ship to Australia. Simply email them your selection and they will quote for postage and arrange secure payment.

Woodcutters, squirrels and other woodland critters come to mind when I look at this delightful Twig Crayon Set. They're an earthier take on a traditional children's drawing tool and bring a bit of nature back into the home. The surfaces of the twigs have been smoothed down, and have a great, chunky diameter for those tiny hands to grip.

They're handmade in Poland from twigs that have dropped to the ground naturally and the accompanying basket is made from birch. There are 8 in the set and you'll need a reshipper for these, so I'd order two sets to make sure youve got plenty for a long time to come. It's unique little items like these that get me conjuring up entire room decors to suit!

From Tiny McSmall for US$22 whose clothing is also well worth a browse.

These beautiful posters weren't necessarily created with children in mind, however their bold, silhouetted aesthetics lend themselves perfectly to homes with young ones. Blue Art Studio thankfully ships worldwide so you can affordably adorn your walls with pictures of mid-century classics. I look at it like a 'To-Buy List' for the future, not that I'm sure we could have that many pieces in one inner-city house!

My very favourite is the 'Alphabet of design classics' poster of course - it's a different take on a popular theme for children's decor. I also love the one designed as an eye testing chart. It could make for an interesting party game among design buffs!

Then there's the four-in-one posters showcasing objects from the design greats like Eames, Nelson, Bertoia, Panton and Saarinen - done in stunningly simple graphic style.

I'm loving the plethora of affordable art around at the moment. I think a Blue Art Studio poster will be joining us soon!  The posters with shipping cost US$50

MomSpit - not the real thing

This one is really making me laugh. We all remember the horror of mum dipping her hanky in her mouth then smearing it on our dirty faces as children. I remember the cringe, the disgust of it all, and mostly the embarrassment of having mum fuss over me in full view of the general public.

My two are a bit too young for the embarrassment yet, and these days there are super products on the market like MomSpit, a waterless cleanser you can take with you anywhere, anytime.

I love the MomSpit promise - the products are user-friendly, not tested on animals, not manufactured anywhere using child labour, and "MomSpit products contain no human saliva, 'cause that would just be gross." Too funny!

My pick is the Fig & Green Tea formula, apparently "the spirit of fresh and fluffy white towels," but there's also Lemon & White Tea, and Unscented to choose from. All are alcohol free.

Available from Babesta for $19.95 USD, whose international shipping rates are very reasonable.
