When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait for those training wheels to go. They were just embarrassing! Those with free-wheeling older siblings suffered the worst of the stigma, but now the youngest ones in the family can hold their heads high thanks to the gadgetry genius of the Gyrowheel!
The wheel fits any twelve inch bike, replacing the original front wheel with another one especially designed to stabilise the bike and teach correct riding technique. Inside there’s a separate spinning wheel which creates the ‘gyroscopic precession’ needed to both sense a tipping bike and correct it. Your kid will be riding in just one afternoon.
It looks cool in a choice of red and black stripes or yellow and black spots, and will be released on December 1 at a price point of around US$100. Plans are also afoot for a Gyrobike – we’ll keep you updated. Have a look at the videos to see it in action.
