I’m quite certain there are lots of dads out there who are ‘sharing’ their enjoyment of Star Wars with their kids. I use the term ‘sharing’ loosely because I’m not sure the children of today can fully appreciate Star Wars as we knew it, when the ‘special effects’ were like nothing we’d ever seen and owning the figurines gave you playground cachet. But you can have a bit of fun by letting Star Wars characters guide your every journey.

The characters and voices from Star Wars are now available for TomTom car satellite navigation systems. Instead of the standard voice telling you “Wrong way, go back” you can now have Darth Vadar say “Turn around when possible then take the third left… sense your way” (there’s a lot of Darth Vadar breathing interspersed in those instructions). Hardcore fans will want to choose their destination – between the dark side and the light side. For the rest of us, getting lost has never been so entertaining.

The Darth Vader voice is available from Tom Tom for $17.50. Additional characters C-3PO, Yoda and Hans Solo are available in June, July and August respectively.
