Sharing a smartphone with children for entertainment is risky, whether it’s your toddler deleting your important diary appointments or your older child reading your Christmas gift list. Fear no more, Windows Phone users at least will be reassured their kids are playing exactly what they should be thanks to this childproofing feature.
Kid’s Corner is a virtual safety gate of sorts for your phone, enabling you to set up a separate Start screen and create an environment for your child to play safely in by accessing only those apps, videos, games and music you deem appropriate. A virtual playpen if you will, how completely clever!
Children can easily access the Kid’s Corner by swiping from left of the Lock Screen and of course, parents have full control over its content and appearance. I’m secretly hoping Apple will catch on to such a genius idea for iPhone.
Word on the street is that the Kid’s Corner feature will be making its way to all Windows Phone 8 handsets when they’re available later in the year!
