Maeve's Cot - a rare beauty

It's a rare beauty with its simple, slightly rotund form, apparently made 'plump and playful like its namesake'. Maeve's Cot is designed and produced by Brooklyn-based design house 4pli. The almost hourglass-shaped bars have been fashioned from Baltic birch plywood and give the cot a hint of organic form. It has been finished with low irritant paint so your little one can breathe easy. 4pli were looking to rebel against the straight lines of most cots and produce something softer from the usual.

This is a piece of furniture that would happily lend itself to almost any decor you should happen to choose. It would be equally at home in super-modern, neutral or colourful nurseries, as well as in more traditionally-themed rooms. For me, there's a peace about it that would see me placing it in a pure white room with softly coloured accessories in light latte, chocolate and cream. Whichever vision you have for your baby's first haven, there is certain to be no other like Maeve's Cot as only 250 have ever been produced.

You might be saving for a while for this one, especially if you'd like to match it with the dresser and stunning 'Petal5' nesting tables you can also use as stools. At £1700, (yes that's pounds) this beautifully crafted limited edition crib is a bit ouch on the wallet, but oh so easy on the eyes. From Bouf.
