Sesame snaps snack recipe
Oh, sweet tasty sesame snaps, how I love you. This more-ish snack for the adults has quickly became a crunchy snack favoured by the kids in our home. Here’s how easy it is to make these lip-smacking good snacks yourself!
A disclaimer – stopping at one shard is near impossible, so they don’t hang around for long.
- Prep time : 10 mins
- Cooking time : 5 mins
Sesame snaps ingredients
- 1 cup sesame seeds
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tbsp honey
Method
- Set yourself up with a flat baking tray, two sheets of greased baking paper and a rolling pin. Set aside.
- Toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat until golden in colour. Keep them moving and watch they don’t burn. Remove from the pan to a plate.
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and honey. Melt over medium heat and bring to a boil. Let it boil for two minutes and then remove from heat.
- Working quickly, add the sesame seeds to the sugar mix and stir until all combined and pour it onto the baking paper lined tray.
- Cover with the other sheet of baking paper and roll with a rolling pin to the desired thickness. The thinner it is, the more it will shatter when being cut.
- Allow the sesame mix to cool slightly before cutting. Once it has cooled completely, dig in!
Notes
- My youngest calls these ‘birdseed crackers’ and if you really don’t want to share, this could be the out you need (though you run the risk of your kids never eating anything laced with sesame seeds – your call!)
