Update - Skip Hop Palette Plate E-mail
Feeding

We first let you know about these gems back in November 2007 and promised to keep you posted on their arrival into Australia. They have made it over here and are available from Urban Baby for $49.95.

Meals will be a breeze with this newly released Skip Hop Palette Plate. Shaped like an artists's palette, it's a fun way to present food, inspiring your baby or toddler to try varied foods. Ideal when starting solids as you can put different single foods in each removable bowl, the palette will also see your child through to the notorious toddler stage, when kids tend to get fussy. Prepare an array of finger foods, arrange artfully and watch your toddler eat!

In the Skip Hop tradition of brilliant design coupled with absolute functionality, the bowls are microwave safe and come with see through covers for each, so you can save any leftover food for next time. The palette has a non-slip base, thus avoiding 'artful' spills and splatters on your floors and walls a la Pro Hart. Utensils are also included, as is a spot for a sippy cup.

Introducing solids to your young baby is exciting.  It's also incredibly messy.  Mums and Dads everwhere are  releasing their inner Nigella Lawson or Jamie Oliver as fresh produce is gathered and pureed... that's the easy part.  How to store the morsels of fine cuisine is a quandary most parents find themselves in when crossing this major milestone and this innovative product from Miinki Moop is providing the solution!

Qubies are unique in design.  Unlike a regular icecube tray, the dividers are in the lid, minimising the awful mess that pouring puree into any tiny receptacle creates.  A single Qubies tray creates seven 30ml portions of food - perfect when starting out on solids and great for mixing and matching when feeling more confident!

Qubies are so easy to use it's ridiculous - pour, freeze, divide and store in the Qubies container (they have an air-tight lid so no freezer burn) or if you want to stockpile, freeze then divide and put in snaplock bags or a freezer-safe container.  The trays are made from a non-stick silicon and the clean up needn't be a drama either as they're dishwasher safe!

Long gone are the days of introducing solids with my kidlets but I still think these would be useful in my own kitchen for lemon juice (I always need lemon juice and never have lemons ... one day I'll buy a tree), berries and stewed fruits .  It's always great when there's a product that will still be useful long after it's served it's primary purpose and Qubies Baby Food trays are exactly that!

Qubies are an Australian product and come in two colours - aqua and lime.  They are available online at their own website priced at $16.95.  Postage in Australia for 1-4 trays is $9.50 and international shipping is available.

Parents have recently been alerted to the fact that most baby bottles are made from plastics that contain potentially harmful toxins. Although I breastfeed, I have always kept bottles handy for those times when I've had to pump, for the odd bottle of formula, and for cow's milk later on. I might reconsider regular plastic bottles now and invest in some toxin-free ones from Green To Grow.

These bottles look traditional enough, but what you can't see is the lack of Bisphenol-A, 'a neurological, developmental, and reproductive toxicant' found in polycarbonate plastics - the very same plastic used to make millions of baby bottles. The Green To Grow website has a wonderful collection of resources for you to read, so you can educate yourself about plastics and the preparation of your children's food and beverages.

So what are these super bottles made from? PES plastic, which stands for Polyethersulfone, a polymer that isn't porous or reactive and is more durable than other hard plastics. It can withstand changes in temperature, remaining stable over many uses, including hundreds of stints in the dishwasher and steriliser.

Our children deserve our best efforts to keep them safe from harmful toxins, and setting aside my panic for a moment, I'm grateful for this new information about plastics.

Mini eco have just released metric Green To Grow bottles in Australia, and they're available in 120ml and 240ml wide necks, for $15.95 and $19.95 respectively. I'm just loving this site. Finally eco-friendly goods can go hand in hand with style!

Breast feeding is a gift for both mother and baby.  Sometimes, it is necessary to bottle feed. And if you do need to bottle feed, the Adiri Natural Nurser Ultimate Bottle could be a perfect solution.

When feeding, your breasts don’t feel like hard plastic, so why should the bottle? With this in mind the creators of the Adiri Natural Nurser Ultimate Bottle designed and made a bottle which is 100% polycarbonate-free and bisphenol-A free.  When filled with warm milk, this bottle feels warm and supple against the child’s cheek, closely mimicking the feel of your breast.

Its patented nipple design helps minimise nipple confusion whilst encouraging a similar feeding style to breastfeeding; making it a good bottle option for those who are combining breast and bottle feeding.

The Adiri Natural Nurser is available in three stages each with different flow rates – slow for newborns, medium for 3-6 months old babies and fast for babies older than 6 months.  Each bottle holds 240ml of fluid and is able to be boiled, sterilised in a basic sterlisier and is also dishwasher safe.

Each bottle is $19.95 and is available in Australia through EcoChild.
