gumboot, rainboots, wellies

Australia may be the driest inhabited continent on earth, but when it does rain, little ones are quick to make the dash outside for some splish, splosh, splashing fun. Today we’re giving you a puddle play roundup, showing you the funkiest of rainy day attire!

When it’s feet first into the water, you will need a pair of wellies to keep toes dry and we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to making little feet both fancy and waterproof! The Bergstein boot ($59.95 above) is a favourite with Europeans, a sturdy boot with rippled sole for extra traction in slippery conditions and available in glorious rich solid colours to boot!

bee gumboot, dragonfly gumboot, frog gumboot

Toddlers and small children quite literally get a kick out of novelty gumboots (pictured above) and why wouldn’t they want to stomp their heels in excitement with these rain boots? Choose from a bee, dragonfly or a puddle-loving frog (with handy sock protector toggle) – all priced at $19, starting from a size five and available from Aussie Gumboot.

Rugged Neoprene wellies ($54.95) with easy to pull on hand holes, pretty polka dot and striped wellies ($39.95) with buckle detail and the well known Walnut brand gumboots ($39.95) are all stocked at Wellies.

Celavi rainwear, gumboots, wellies

Danish brand Celavi (pictured above) are synonymous with quality and amazing attention to detail – their funky coloured, bright and bold patterned wellies include a springy sole for comfort. Currently not available for shipping to Australia, a re-shipper will be required for purchase or call on your European relatives to grab you some from Smart Fashion, where they are priced from €18.95.

Pairing wellies with gorgeous kids’ raincoats makes it really easy to be prepared with a cute weatherproof outfit should it rain on your parade. Dancing the double act are Polarn O Pyret (pictured above and below) whose outstanding use of colour and pattern had me hooked at first glance. There’s a melting pot of rainwear emblazoned with spots, stripes and elk prints to brighten the darkest of cloudy days. Children’ wellies are priced from US$35 and raincoats for kids at US$40.50.

Australian favourite Penny Scallan can always be counted on to deliver big, bold and beautiful prints perfect for cheering up cold, damp weather. Penny Scallan has kids covered from top to bottom with wellies ($29.95) and available in sizes six to twelve, childrens’ raincoats ($69.95) in sizes two to eight and childrens’ umbrellas at $24.95.
